THE NWDS PLAN FOR DEVELOPMENT
A year-round plan for dedicated athletes who want to stay in peak shape and continually improve their skills. Our roadmap guides you through each phase of the year, from building a foundation to competing at your best.

OFF-SEASON TRAINING (Oct, Nov, Dec)
-
This is the time to build a solid foundation. If you don't have a weightlifting program, start one with a focus on proper technique. Keeping a routine during the off-season is key to staying on track with your progress and setting goals for the year ahead.
-
Our Recommendation: Lift weights three times a week and incorporate cardio training twice a week. Continue skill work with tee work, indoor drills, and consistent catch sessions.
-
NWDS Options:
-
Introductory Weight Training Classes
-
SAQ (Speed, Agility, and Quickness)
-
Private Instruction & Small Group Training
-
NWDS Hitting League

PRE-SEASON TRAINING (Jan-Feb)
-
With tryouts and evaluations approaching, it's time to start fine-tuning your game. You should have already built a solid physical foundation and can now focus on incorporating more "live" and situational work into your training. Being a self-aware player is key for putting together your game plan for the season.
-
Our Recommendation: Focus on applying your strengths while continuing to improve your weaknesses. Work with an instructor 4-8 times per month to stay on track.
-
NWDS Options:
-
Catching with the Pros: Join NWDS Instructor Mychal Gould for an in-depth, 4-session program designed to take your catching game to the next level. The program, for players ages 11-18, covers mechanical analysis, commanding the strike zone, improving blocking, and throwing techniques.
-
"No Days Off" Series: A new series of high-intensity clinics focused on pitching, fielding, and hitting.

IN SEASON TRAINING (Mar- Aug)
-
Get on the field and compete! Opening Day is an opportunity to showcase your hard work. Remember that baseball is a marathon, not a sprint—it requires a lot of time, work, and attention to detail.
-
Our Recommendation: We recommend meeting with an instructor twice a month for fine-tuning and area work. Go hard every day, respect yourself, your teammates, your coaches, and most of all, respect the game.
