OUR PHILOSOPHY: THE NWDS APPROACH
Baseball is a unique game—an "individual sport with a team concept." At Northwest Diamond Sports, our philosophy is to develop each player to their maximum potential by teaching the highest levels of fundamental baseball. Our instructors focus on preparing athletes for the next level by developing their mechanics, mental approach, physical fitness, and overall knowledge of the game.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
OUR CORE GOALS
-
Our primary goal is to teach each player to maximize their fundamental skills. We achieve this through three core principles:
-
Patience & Attention to Detail: We understand that every player progresses at a different rate. We provide useful information without overwhelming them, allowing each player the necessary time to make adjustments for success.
-
Quality Repetition: Our coaching focuses on high-quality, targeted repetition to build a strong foundation.
-
Simplified, Routine Play: The game of baseball is simple at its core: you throw the ball, hit the ball, and catch the ball. We simplify the game to make it as routine as possible, helping players perform under pressure.
WHAT WE BELEIVE
-
We believe that success in baseball has no prerequisites. It's determined by two things every player can control: effort and attitude.
-
We focus on developing each player in five general skill areas:
-
Running
-
Fielding
-
Throwing
-
Hitting for Average
-
Hitting for Power
-
We also know that "our players will take on our personality." With this in mind, our coaches are committed to putting forth the same effort and high expectations in their preparation that they expect from their players.
